The Department of Information Systems (IS) at the College of Business, City University of Hong Kong, is a leading academic department dedicated to excellence in research and education. As one of six departments within the College, it boasts a diverse team of over 30 faculty members. The department has a strong tradition of impactful research, consistently achieving global recognition. It ranked 11th in the UT Dallas Top 100 World Rankings of Business Schools (based on publications in the top 3 IS journals, 2022'2024) and secured the 5th position in the AIS Research Rankings. With the mission of nurturing smart people for smart business, the department offers a comprehensive suite of academic programs. These include two undergraduate programs, four taught postgraduate programs, and a well-structured doctoral program.

Duties

Research track faculty members in the Department of Information Systems are tasked with conducting innovative and high-impact research that advances the field and publishing in leading academic journals. They also deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses with excellence, either independently or collaboratively. Associate Professors and above are expected to contribute to administrative tasks and other departmental responsibilities.

Requirements

A PhD in Information Systems/Computer Science/Economics/Information Science or a closely related field with a strong dedication to research and teaching excellence. The appointees should be capable of teaching at both undergraduate (BBA) and graduate (MBA/MSc) levels, demonstrate the ability to motivate students to excel in their studies, and have a passion for student support and mentorship.

Candidates for Professor and Associate Professor should have a substantial track record of research publications in top-tier journals.

Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a strong indication of the ability to publish in top-tier journals.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
