Job Description

An established engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Production Manager (Marine & Heavy Engineering) to lead fabrication and production operations for large-scale industrial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering production targets while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee daily production activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed schedules.
  • Manage fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing operations involving large steel structures and engineered components.
  • Allocate manpower, equipment, workshop capacity, and materials to maximise productivity and optimise workflow.
  • Monitor production performance, identify operational constraints, and implement improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce delays.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, planning, logistics, quality, and project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Review production progress and resource utilisation, providing regular updates and recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead and develop production supervisors, team leaders, and contractor personnel, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure production activities comply with applicable quality standards, engineering requirements, and workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Drive initiatives to improve production processes, minimise material wastage, and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Support workforce planning, equipment utilisation, and production readiness for upcoming projects.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 8 years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, heavy engineering, industrial construction, or related production environments.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary production teams and coordinating contractors.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, production planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Experience implementing quality management systems and safe work practices in an industrial environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office experience with ERP or production planning systems is advantageous.
  • Willing to be based full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
