  • Lead a team of approximately 10 direct reports, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Own optical competency across all production lines in the factory, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with quality standards.
  • Drive structured problem resolution and continuous improvement initiatives, tackling complex challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Manage stakeholders effectively to pursue organizational success, building strong partnerships and aligning priorities across teams.

Role and responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment

Responsible for Health & Safety for the team. Encourages safety mindset and acts as role model to others in regard to health and safety and holds others accountable. Follow the organization's EHS policies, procedures and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks, and to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.

People management and development

Cascades targets, appraises and develops (the cooperation between) employees. Develops direct reports by coaching them, assigning new tasks, guides on skills and knowledge development. Can be responsible for natural team development. Ensures retention and development of critical knowledge and capabilities within functional area.

Realization

Direct and drive the realization of planned results and operational KPIs for the own team, able to leverage understanding of the department, to optimize factory operations beyond own and natural team. Contribute or deliver input to the planning of the work in the factory operations.

Continuous Improvement

Review existing operations (L5 level) in own area of work and implement innovation processes to generate new ideas and ensure continuous improvements are delivered. Foster a CI culture within the own team. Leads improvement initiatives for own team.

Management information

Provide reports and analyses on operational and team performance towards tiers and management structures.

Stakeholder Management

Builds and maintains a network of in- and external stakeholders/partners (typically own team, and other TL's and GL's) and represents the organization. Explains and convinces internal and external parties regarding operational choices and solutions based on content-driven arguments. Reflects on achieved results and/or issues related to these choices and generates relevant business insights.

Budget control

Cascade operational targets into year plans. Drive realization of year plan within timing and budget constraints. Manage and acquire approval for planned deviations.

Strategy and policy

Develop policies and objectives for the assigned unit and contribute to policies on the next organization level

Education and experience

  • Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in optical systems development or related technical domain.
  • Minimum 3 years of managerial position.
  • Proven track record in managing cross-functional teams and delivering complex projects.

Skills

  • Leadership & Management: Ability to inspire, motivate, and coach team members; strong situational leadership and servant leadership principles.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of optical principles, systems integration, and related tools.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to align stakeholders and manage conflicts effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify structural issues and propose solutions.
