As a Principal Power Engineer at Jabil, you will serve as a key technical leader, driving the design, development, and validation of advanced AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion solutions optimized for server rack environments. This role demands deep expertise in power electronics and a proven track record of delivering complex power systems to market.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the architecture, design, and development of high-efficiency, high-density AC-DC power supplies and power distribution units (PDUs) for next-generation server rack applications.
Perform detailed analysis, modeling, and simulation of power conversion circuitsincluding PFC, resonant converters, and DC-DC stagesto maximize performance, efficiency, and reliability.
Define and implement power system specifications, component selection, and comprehensive test plans to meet stringent industry standards (e.g., OCP, Energy Star, IEC) and customer requirements.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teamsincluding mechanical, thermal, firmware, and manufacturingto ensure seamless integration and manufacturability of power solutions.
Execute comprehensive power system validation, including functional testing, stress testing, EMI/EMC compliance, and reliability assessments.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in power product design, cost optimization, and manufacturing processes.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex power engineering challenges.
Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry trends in power electronics, championing their adoption when strategically beneficial.
Serve as the primary technical liaison for customers and suppliers, addressing power-related challenges and driving innovation.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics; Ph.D. preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in AC-DC power supply design and development, with a strong focus on server, data center, or enterprise-level power solutions.
Expert-level knowledge of power conversion topologies, control methods, magnetics design, and component selection (e.g., MOSFETs, IGBTs, capacitors, inductors).
Proficiency with power electronics simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, Simplis, MATLAB/Simulink).
Strong understanding of EMI/EMC principles and design techniques for compliance.
Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards (e.g., UL, CE, CCC).
Familiarity with advanced cooling techniques for high-power-density applications.
Experience with firmware/software aspects of power supply control is a plus.
Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex technical concepts.
