Job Summary
As a Principal Oracle Health Systems Engineer specializing in Health Information Exchange, you will lead the operation, maintenance, support, and optimization of HIE platforms and their associated infrastructure.
You will help ensure the reliable and secure exchange of clinical and operational data across healthcare organizations and connected systems. The role requires expertise in healthcare interoperability, production support, interface troubleshooting, system monitoring, migration activities, and cross-functional technical collaboration.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation, support, and optimisation of Health Information Exchange platforms and related infrastructure.
- Monitor system health, interface performance, availability, and uptime to maintain reliable data exchange services.
- Diagnose and resolve interface errors, message failures, data-quality issues, system incidents, and interoperability challenges.
- Support cloud migrations, platform upgrades, patching, configuration changes, maintenance activities, and production deployments.
- Validate inbound and outbound data feeds for accuracy, completeness, security, and compliance with healthcare data-exchange requirements.
- Coordinate interface testing, participant onboarding, external system connectivity, deployment activities, and production-readiness validation.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, data, security, and engineering teams to maintain secure, compliant, and resilient healthcare integration environments.
- Maintain operational documentation, support audit requirements, contribute to knowledge transfer, and help ensure continuity of service and support coverage.
Qualifications and Skills Mandatory Qualifications
- 6–10+ years of experience supporting Health Information Exchange, healthcare integration, interoperability solutions, or healthcare technology platforms.
- Demonstrated experience supporting production healthcare applications, interfaces, and data-exchange environments.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting system, interface, integration, message-processing, and data-quality issues.
- Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7, CCD/C-CDA, and FHIR.
- Experience with interface monitoring, message validation, production support, system administration, and operational monitoring.
- Understanding of healthcare integration architecture and secure clinical data-exchange practices.
- Familiarity with Oracle Health Millennium architecture, healthcare workflows, and interoperability capabilities.
- Knowledge of iBus and clinical, operational, or healthcare information systems.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a production healthcare environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across application, infrastructure, data, security, and engineering teams.
- Experience creating operational documentation and supporting knowledge-transfer activities.
Good-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience supporting Oracle Health Millennium migrations.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Experience supporting healthcare SaaS or cloud migration programs.
- Experience with enterprise-scale HIE platforms, healthcare integration engines, or interoperability solutions.
- Experience supporting acute care, ambulatory, or revenue-cycle environments.

Self-Assessment Questions
