Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Power (DC-DC) Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of advanced power solutions for server and storage platforms. This role will drive highly complex DC-DC power architecture and system design while managing a team of engineers to achieve technical excellence, product quality, and project milestones.
The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on technical expertise in power electronics with proven leadership capabilities, ensuring successful product releases into production and continuous team development.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Design Execution
- Lead end-to-end DC-DC power design and development, including architecture definition, schematic design, PCB layout, validation, and production release
- Oversee power system design for server/storage platforms, ensuring compliance with performance, efficiency, and reliability targets
- Drive power architecture decisions in collaboration with system architects and cross-functional teams
- Ensure design outputs align with product specifications, regulatory standards, and safety requirements
- Lead prototype bring-up, debugging, validation, and functional verification
- Resolve complex power design issues and proactively manage design trade-offs
Team Management & Development
- Manage and mentor a team of power engineers, fostering technical growth and high performance
- Provide coaching, technical guidance, and career development support
- Lead and facilitate design reviews and technical discussions across teams
- Promote best practices in power design, simulation, testing, and documentation
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Own project execution, including planning, milestone tracking, and risk management
- Ensure projects are delivered following structured development processes (e.g., stage-gate / PLCQ)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (system architecture, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, etc.)
- Communicate technical updates, risks, and solutions clearly to internal stakeholders and customers
Supplier & Industry Engagement
- Partner with external vendors and suppliers for power components and solutions
- Influence supplier roadmaps to align with future product requirements
- Evaluate new technologies and drive innovation, including potential patentable solutions
Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in DC-DC converter design, including VR, multiphase converters, and high-current power systems
- Solid foundation in power supply theory, analog and digital electronics
- Hands-on experience with:
- Schematic and PCB design tools
- Lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers)
- Simulation tools and power design platforms
- CPU/DDR validation tools (Intel/AMD platforms preferred)
- Knowledge of design standards and methodologies, including:
- Component derating
- DFMEA
- Reliability and compliance standards
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and develop engineering teams
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Experience working in global, cross-functional environments
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and drive decisions
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of experience in power electronics or embedded hardware design
- 3+ years of leadership or people management experience preferred
- Proven track record of delivering products into mass production
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in server, data center, or storage system power design
- Familiarity with high-density, high-efficiency power solutions
- Demonstrated innovation through patents or advanced design contributions
