Are you passionate about driving innovation in manufacturing processes and tooling design As a POC Mold Process Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the successful introduction of new DSS cable products into our global manufacturing facilities. You will provide technical leadership in molding and over-molding strategies, ensuring innovative and efficient processes while maintaining alignment with Molex standards. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of a global cable over-molding strategy while working with cutting-edge manufacturing solutions.

Our Team

You'll be part of the POC Lab Team, a collaborative group of professionals dedicated to advancing early-stage product development and prototype execution for Molex. Our team works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement functions to deliver innovative solutions and high-quality prototypes for cutting-edge products. We are committed to fostering a dynamic and efficient environment that enables rapid proof of concept (POC) execution and new product development.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and support molding and overmolding solutions for New Product Introductions (NPI) of DSS cable products using a Scientific Molding approach.
  • Estimate project costs and lead times for new molds, product extensions, and revisions to existing molds.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and MIEs to review product designs for manufacturability and facilitate mold design reviews with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage the design, build, and debugging processes for injection molds, mold components, and equipment to ensure on-time delivery and within budget.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a global cable molding strategy for DSS products, driving process improvements and technology innovation.
  • Identify and implement technology advancements for ongoing enhancements in DSS cable molding capabilities.
  • Conduct tooling and equipment audits to ensure alignment with Molex standards.
  • Provide technical support for production teams as needed, ensuring smooth integration of primary duties.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


  • Recognized certification or higher in Engineering or Manufacturing, or 6+ years of experience in mechanical, molding, and tooling design.
  • 2+ years of experience in a large manufacturing plant or custom/captive molding company.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD tools for modeling and documentation (e.g., Unigraphics/NX).
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal, reading, and written).

What Will Put You Ahead


  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering.
  • 1+ year of experience in the cable overmolding industry.
  • Advanced expertise in molding process development.
  • Experience in developing and implementing innovative tooling strategies and solutions.
  • Strong skills in Design of Experiment (DOE) and statistical analysis for process optimization.
  • Experience with large-scale server or switch systems or working with a liquid cooling supplier.
