Job Description

Summary:

We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Patent & IP Specialist to join our Intellectual Property department. This role is critical in supporting our growth strategy by evaluating new licensing opportunities, ensuring freedom-to-operate (FTO) for our pipeline, and managing complex IP litigation across key Asian markets. You will work closely with the IP Manager to protect our interests and navigate the competitive patent landscape .

Key Responsibilities:

- Due Diligence & Licensing:

• Conduct comprehensive IP due diligence for potential in-licensing of generic and innovative pharmaceutical assets.

• Assess the strength and validity of third-party patent portfolios to support business development decisions.

- Freedom to Operate (FTO) & Launch Analysis:

• Perform detailed patent searches and clearance analysis (FTO) to determine product launch timelines in various jurisdictions (e.g., Korea, Taiwan, and other regional markets).

• Identify white spaces and potential IP roadblocks for new product developments (e.g., Aspirin-equivalent launches).

- IP Intelligence & Database Management:

• Utilize professional IP databases such as IPD Analytics, Ark Intelligence, Espacenet, and Patbase to track competitor activity and industry trends.

Litigation & Pre-Litigation Support:

• Manage and support active IP litigation matters in the region.

• Oversee Paragraph IV (P4) equivalent strategies and pre-litigation analysis, particularly within the Patent Linkage systems of Korea and Taiwan.

- Trademark & Portfolio Management:

• Support the IP Manager in managing the company's trademark portfolio.

• Assist in trademark searches, filings, and enforcement actions.[3]

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Provide IP-related guidance to the Regulatory Affairs and Portfolio Management departments to ensure alignment with legal requirements and commercial goals.

• Liaise with external counsel to manage domestic and international patent/trademark filings.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or above in Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Law/Science-related disciplines.

- Strong patent search capabilities, with familiarity in Asian patent databases.

- Solid understanding of IP concepts and frameworks in the U.S. and EU.

- Experience or exposure to IP litigation matters.

- Fluent in English (spoken and written).

Preferred:

- Trademark-related experience, including global brand name assessment.

Background in the pharmaceutical industry.
