Part-time Optometrist II(s)
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland, is committed to advancing patient services, research, training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are also dedicated to worthwhile community programmes and public education projects. The Department, always in search of excellence, is looking for candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research (academic, community and translational) programmes involving ophthalmic investigations, public education, out-reach and ophthalmic studies on disease entities including children eye diseases, refractive errors, ocular surface diseases, dry eye disease, glaucoma, retinal diseases, thyroid eye diseases, autoimmune diseases, and ocular cancers. We are highly committed to supporting the career development of all staff members.
The appointee(s) will be responsible for (a) participating in optometric duties and providing support to clinical services and research activities on weekdays and community services and eye screening programmes to be held on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays (b) performing basic eye examinations and refraction and (c) performing ophthalmic investigative procedures, such as optical coherence tomography and fundus photography on a need basis. On-the-job training will be provided for performing ophthalmic investigative procedures where appropriate.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Optometry (ii) an Optometrists Board Certificate of Registration (Part I) (iii) proficiency in English and Chinese (including Cantonese) and (iv) a self-motivated, hardworking and honest attitude, and a strong sense of responsibility. Having research experience in ophthalmology or visual sciences is preferred. Local or non-local applicants with management or research experience are welcome to apply.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to 2 years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
