Introduction to the job
The YS Sustaining Engineering team at ASML Taiwan (Linkou Factory) collaborates closely with counterparts in ASML Netherlands, focusing on the YieldStar product line and related modules. Our mission is to drive NPI to HVM and continuous design improvements, resolve escalations, and deliver structural solutions for both factory and field environments.
As an Optical Sensing Engineer, you will specify, realize, and qualify designs on optical systems for the development of YieldStar product line. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address factory engineering escalations and design issues, ensuring both quick fixes and long-term solutions.
Overall, you will contribute to Manufacturing, Customer Support organization, and Asia suppliers to meet the output, cost and quality requirements.
Role and responsibilities
- Provide timely support for YS optical sensing escalations to minimize machine downtime
- Investigate and resolve structural issues in YS optical and sensing through clear problem definition, containment, and implementation of corrective actions
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) of defective optical parts and deliver detailed reports
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation, including functional specifications (EPS), design specifications (EDS), test specifications (TPS), and qualification reports (TAR)
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to drive issue resolution and ensure proper escalation paths are followed
- Support NPI and production integration activities for Linkou Factory
- Develop and maintain optical-related scripts using MATLAB
- Perform optical simulations using industry-standard tools
- Participate in international collaboration, including occasional travel (10%) and evening calls with global teams
Education and experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Optics or related degree with 5+ years of experience
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Optics or related degree with 3+ year of experience
Skills
- Proficiency in MATLAB coding and optical simulation software (Code V/Zemax/Fred)
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with dynamic workloads
- Being a generalist in your field of expertise, willing to dive into unknown problems and ability to operate in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to diagnose and understand the functional and engineering principles of complex optical systems
- Strong problem-solving skills with analytical thinking; able to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements
- Highly motivated, with strong ownership and leadership mentality
- Work independently or as part of a team and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
- Team-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving goals and sustaining operational excellence
- Demonstrate open, clear, concise and professional communication
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills in English
