About the Company

Our client is a leading global proprietary trading firm known for its technology-driven approach, operational excellence, and strong presence across international markets. As part of their continued growth in APAC, they are looking to hire a high-calibre Operations Specialist to join their Hong Kong office.

This is an exciting opportunity to move beyond traditional back-office operations into a more strategic, data-driven and automation-focused role within a dynamic trading environment.

The Role

As an Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting trading activities across multiple asset classes while driving process optimisation and automation initiatives.

This position sits within a broader first-line controls and operations function, offering strong exposure to trading desks, technology teams, and regional/global stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations & Trade Support

Perform daily trade, cash, and position reconciliations across multiple asset classes and prime brokers
Monitor P&L attribution and investigate any discrepancies
Resolve trade breaks, settlement issues, and corporate actions in a timely manner
Liaise with custodians, counterparties, and prime brokers to ensure smooth trade lifecycle processing

Process Improvement & Automation

Analyse end-to-end operational workflows and identify inefficiencies
Design and implement scalable solutions to reduce manual effort and operational risk
Leverage Python, SQL, and AI-assisted tools to automate reconciliation, reporting, and controls

Data & Technology

Manage and enhance data pipelines supporting operational workflows
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness for reporting and control processes
Collaborate with technology teams on system enhancements and new implementations

Projects & Stakeholder Engagement

Support onboarding of new counterparties, brokers, and market connectivity
Contribute to regional and global transformation initiatives
Assist in strengthening operational controls, documentation, and governance frameworks

Requirements

Experience

3-10 years of experience in operations, middle office, or trade support preferably within a prop trading firm, hedge fund, prime brokerage or banks

Technical Skills

Highly skilled in Python, SQL and VBA (ability to analyse or build solutions)
Experience working with large datasets and reconciliation frameworks
Familiarity with automation tools and AI-assisted workflows is a strong advantage

Product Knowledge

Solid understanding of the trade lifecycle with exposure to clearing, settlement, reconciliation processes as well as trade floor support
Extensive knoeledge across asset classes, Equities, ETFs is a MUST
