About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially driven Ocean Commercial & Pricing Lead to join our Global Sales & Marketing division. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving ocean pricing strategy, carrier management, RFQ/tender positioning, and commercial decision-making across key global trade lanes.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening Dimerco's ocean freight competitiveness, improving revenue and margin performance, supporting trade lane development, and aligning pricing strategy with customer needs, market conditions, and operational feasibility.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and own the ocean pricing strategy across key trade lanes, ensuring alignment with market dynamics, customer requirements, and business objectives
- Drive RFQ and tender strategy, including pricing formulation, positioning, and negotiation, to secure competitive and sustainable business outcomes
- Manage and negotiate carrier relationships and allocation strategies, securing optimal capacity, service reliability, and commercial terms
- Structure and manage carrier contracts (e.g., validity, surcharges, space allocation, and key clauses) to balance competitiveness with margin protection
- Translate market intelligence and performance data (rate trends, volume, lane performance) into actionable pricing strategies and negotiation approaches
- Act as a commercial bridge between Sales, Operations, and regional teams, aligning pricing decisions with service feasibility and operational execution
- Partner with Sales to support customer acquisition and retention, ensuring pricing solutions are commercially viable while meeting customer expectations
- Drive volume, revenue, and margin performance through effective pricing strategies, trade lane development, and carrier engagement
- Identify and manage commercial and operational risks, proactively adjusting pricing and contract strategies in response to market volatility
- Contribute to the development of product and trade lane strategies, strengthening Dimerco's competitive positioning in the ocean freight market
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of experience in ocean freight within freight forwarding or NVOCC environments, with strong exposure to pricing, trade lane, or commercial roles
- Proven track record in leading pricing strategy, RFQ/tender management, and carrier negotiations, with clear ownership of outcomes
- Strong understanding of global trade lanes, market dynamics, and ocean freight cost drivers
- Demonstrated ability to drive commercial outcomes, including revenue growth, volume expansion, and margin optimization
- Experience in managing carrier relationships and allocation strategies, with the ability to secure capacity and competitive terms in dynamic market conditions
- Strong capability in translating market and performance data into actionable pricing strategies and decisions
- Solid experience in contract structuring, including key commercial clauses (e.g. validity, surcharges, space allocation, risk mitigation)
- Proven ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders, including Sales, Operations, and regional teams
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and decision-making capability, with a balance of strategic thinking and execution discipline
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at all levels across a global organization
