General Summary
The Module Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) ensures that purchased modules meet quality standards and specifications. This role is a critical link between internal teams (PKGE, Operations team, and sourcing/procurement) and external suppliers, focusing on quality assurance, problem resolution, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supplier Capability Assessment: Conduct technical and quality system assessments of potential new suppliers, including IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 audits.
- Supplier On-Boarding Process: Ensure suppliers understand company standards and requirements.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Lead suppliers to conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation and control plans to reduce and manage residual risk.
- APQP: Collaborate with suppliers to drive APQP implementation and ensure that each phase's outputs is properly completed.
- PPAP Management & Approval: Review, approve, and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions from suppliers.
- Quality Issue Resolution (8D Management): Lead resolution of complex quality issues and non-conformances with suppliers, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor and analyze suppliers quality KPIs and scorecards, focusing on continuous improvement.
- PCN (Product Change Notification): Review and approve supplier-driven engineering changes, ensuring proper documentation and validation. For automotive grade products, PCN must comply with ZVEI DeQuMa Matrix requirements.
- Audit Activities: Conduct regular and focused audits at supplier facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Drive continuous quality improvement with module Suppliers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
- Hands-on experience supporting SiP products from NPI to mass production, with direct and sustained in a manufacturing site/factory environment experience.
- Minimum 10 years of working experience in supplier quality or module manufacturing development in the automotive industry.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an independent supplier facing leader. Strong knowledge of SiP Module assembly processes.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, Quality Tools (APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA etc.) and methodologies.
- Solid root cause analysis (3W5L) and 8D problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting automotive industry requirements of AEC-Q, ZVEI PCN.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, open-minded personality and highly motivated with strong ownership.
- Willingness to travel to supplier locations as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Supplier Quality Assurance experience (e.g., quality analysis, audit) or related work experience.
