Middle Office Specialist, Cash Equities

Our client is a leading global investment bank with a strong presence across Asia-Pacific, operating a highly respected Equities franchise servicing institutional clients worldwide. Due to continued growth within its APAC Operations platform, they are seeking an experienced Middle Office Specialist to join their Cash Equities team in Hong Kong.
The Role
As part of the Equities Middle Office team, you will act as a critical control function between Trading, Sales, Clients, Brokers, Custodians, and Operations partners, ensuring the seamless management of trade lifecycle events and operational risk across APAC cash equities markets.
You will play a key role in supporting business growth, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving process improvement initiatives while maintaining a strong risk and control framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end cash equities trade lifecycle events, including allocations, amendments, confirmations, and settlements.
- Partner closely with Front Office stakeholders to support daily trading activities and resolve operational issues.
- Perform and oversee reconciliations between internal trading platforms and external counterparties.
- Investigate and resolve trade breaks, settlement exceptions, and client-related queries in a timely manner.
- Liaise with brokers, custodians, clearing agents, and clients across APAC markets.
- Monitor operational risk exposures and ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Drive process optimisation, automation initiatives, and workflow enhancements.
- Produce management reporting and operational metrics for business stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Business, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience within Middle Office, Trade Support, Equity Operations, or Securities Operations.
- Must have experience gained within a leading global investment bank (Bulge brackets), tier-one securities firm, or institutional brokerage.
- Strong product knowledge across Cash Equities and associated trade lifecycle processes.
- Experience supporting APAC equities markets, particularly Australia and broader regional exchanges.
- Strong understanding of trade matching, confirmations, settlements, and reconciliation processes.
- Familiarity with industry trading and settlement platforms.
- Advanced Excel skills experience with SQL, VBA, Python, Alteryx, Power BI, or automation tools would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to operate effectively within a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
