Medical Laboratory Technician II (Haematology Laboratory)

The appointee will be responsible for undertaking technical duties in the haematology laboratory and work at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin.

The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing technical support to molecular hematology service including qPCR- and ddPCR-based assays (b) providing technical support to NGS testing service (c) providing technical support to HLA DNA testing service (d) carrying out research and development work (e) managing database (laboratory management system and biobanking) (f) providing assistance in equipment purchase, evaluation and maintenance and (g) performing other ad-hoc tasks.

Applicants should have/be (i) a Bachelor's degree or a Diploma in biology-related discipline from a recognised university or technical institute (ii) registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist under Part II or above of the Register of the Medical Laboratory Technologist Board in Hong Kong (iii) at least 3 years work experience in medical laboratory science (iv) experience in handling and processing of blood samples and (v) experience in advanced molecular biology techniques, such as NGS library preparation and droplet digital PCR. Havingexperience in conducting hematology research, laboratory management system, biobanking, as well as inventory and document control will be advantageous.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to 2 years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
