Medical Laboratory Technician I (Haematology Laboratory)
The appointee will be responsible for undertaking technical duties in the haematology laboratory and work at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing technical and supervisory support to NGS (panel-based, RNA-seq and whole exome) testing service (b) providing technical and supervisory support to molecular haematology service including PCR-based CAR-T monitoring (c) providing technical support to HLA DNA testing service (d) carrying out research and development work with primary leukemia patient samples (e) managing the database (laboratory management system and biobanking) (f) providing assistance in equipment purchase, evaluation and maintenance and (g) performing other ad-hoc tasks.
Applicants should have/be (i) a Bachelor's degree in biology-related discipline from a recognised university or technical institute (ii) registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist under Part I of the Register of the Medical Laboratory Technologist Board in Hong Kong (iii) at least 5 years post-qualification experience in haematology laboratories (iv) experience in advanced molecular biology techniques including NGS library preparation, droplet digital PCR, CAR-T monitoring, SSP-PCR for HLA testing and DNA extraction from hair follicles/buccal swabs (v) experience in handling and processing blood samples and (vi) experience in culturing primary leukemia patient samples. Having a Master's degree in science-related discipline or work experience in staff training, laboratory management system, biobanking, as well as inventory and document control will be advantageous.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to 2 years, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
