A Snapshot of Your Day
The generation of electrical energy is increasingly being carried out by wind generators installed offshore. The generated energy is collected on so-called offshore platforms and then transmitted to land via high voltage cables. Gas-insulated high-voltage switchgear is installed on the offshore platforms. These are subjected to permanent mechanical stresses. Due to their size, these systems have a significant impact on the dimensioning of the platforms and thus on the overall costs. With your daily work, you will advise customers with your expertise in the various project phases and develop optimal solutions for the projects. In this way, you contribute to the safe generation of renewable energies.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Definition of the support concept and calculation of the foundation loads for relevant load cases
- Support in defining the routing of gas-insulated high-voltage connections from the switchgear to transformers, overhead lines, and cables
- Evaluation of the resulting movements (DOF) on the switchgear for relevant load cases
- Functional description and calculation of the specified loads for the design and detailed engineering of supports by external partners, verification of compliance with functional and load specifications, regular, random checks of scaffolding statics and detailed engineering
- Independent execution of fatigue load calculations for switchgear on floating platforms, assessment of mechanical limits, and definition of appropriate remedial measures
- Execution of mechanical calculations to prove the earthquake resistance of gas-insulated switchgear and other high-voltage equipment incl. documentation
- Completed studies in mechanical engineering, physics, or comparable courses of study
- Several years of experience in static and dynamic strength calculation using FEM, ideally ANSYS
- Analytical skills and a systematic approach to solving complex tasks
- Long-standing experience and knowledge of Siemens Energy GIS systems and modules and their mechanical properties
- Strong team and communication skills, as well as fluency in in German and English
- Analytical, structured, and goal-oriented working style
