Job Description

We are partnering with an established organisation in the marine and shipbuilding sector to appoint an experienced MarineConstruction Manager. This role will oversee site construction activities for vessel newbuild and marine engineering projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily site construction activities to ensure project milestones are achieved within schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Manage project execution in accordance with engineering specifications, applicable regulations, classification society requirements, and recognised industry standards.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, engineering teams, clients, inspectors, and regulatory authorities to resolve technical and operational issues during construction.
  • Supervise subcontractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with project requirements, quality expectations, and workplace safety standards.
  • Monitor contractor performance and implement corrective actions where necessary to improve quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Develop and implement construction plans and work schedules to optimise workflow, minimise delays, and reduce rework.
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor progress to ensure construction activities meet contractual and technical requirements.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives by investigating non-conformances, identifying root causes, and implementing preventive and corrective actions.
  • Prepare construction progress reports, risk assessments, and project updates for management and key stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable HSE policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management within the shipbuilding, marine, offshore, or heavy engineering industries.
  • Hands-on experience managing vessel newbuild, conversion, repair, or large-scale industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of shipbuilding processes, construction sequencing, quality management, and project execution.
  • Familiarity with Classification Society requirements and international marine regulations.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Good communication skills in English Bahasa Indonesia proficiency will be an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willing and able to work full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
