Job Description

Role Purpose

Lead manufacturing quality for Corning's Co‑Packaged Optics (CPO) products, ensuring robust quality systems, process controls, and continuous improvement across pilot and high‑volume manufacturing. This role is accountable for delivering world‑class quality performance that enables scalable production, meets customer requirements, and supports Corning's strategic growth in advanced photonic systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Own manufacturing quality strategy and execution for PCS CPO products, spanning process qualification, production readiness, and volume manufacturing.

• Lead quality planning and risk management activities, including FMEA, control plans, and process capability assessments for new and existing products.

• Partner closely with manufacturing, process engineering, R&D, and systems engineering teams to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.

• Establish and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and review cadences to ensure performance against internal targets and customer expectations.

• Serve as the primary quality interface for customer and key suppliers (incl. CMs) engagements, audits, and escalations related to CPO manufacturing performance.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, reliability, defect reduction, and cost of quality.

• Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, internal quality management systems, and customer specific requirements.

Experiences/Education - Required

• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, process quality, or supplier quality within photonics, semiconductors, advanced packaging, or high precision manufacturing environments.

• Prior leadership experience managing quality engineers or leading quality programs in a manufacturing setting.

• Strong working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including SPC, FMEA, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and reliability testing.

• Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and scale up to high volume manufacturing.

• Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization, influencing manufacturing, engineering, and commercial teams.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey quality risks, tradeoffs, and improvement plans to technical and non technical stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field required; advanced degree or quality certification (e.g., ASQ) preferred.
