A Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing both manufacturing processes and engineering/facility functions to ensure efficient production output while maintaining product quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The role leads continuous process improvement initiatives, oversees equipment reliability and manufacturing performance, manages technology transfer and new equipment implementation, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence. In addition, the Manufacturing Engineer provides leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the production team and the production and engineering/maintenance teams, and is directly accountable for ensuring all production and engineering activities conform to GMP, ISO 9001(Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health &Safety) requirements at all times.
Your job duties and responsibilities include, but not limited, to the following:
Production, Planning & Execution:
- Execute and coordinate production schedules in coordination with planning and operations teams to meet customer and business demands and goals.
- Lead and plan technology transfer and implementation of new equipment and technologies onto the production line.
Process & Equipment Optimization:
- Identify process capabilities and develop, optimize, and implement new technology to improve throughput.
- Analyze manufacturing and warehousing processes and workflows for continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Enforce workplace organization standards and good housekeeping practices (5S).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, process digitalization, and manufacturing system integration.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Work closely with the quality department to ensure products meet established quality standards and resolve any production-related quality issues.
- Ensure all production and engineering activities comply with GMP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001,and ISO 45001 requirements, as well as relevant environmental and internal policies.
Equipment& Facility Management:
- Develop and oversee execution of the maintenance plan for all process-related equipment.
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance planning, and work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
- Manage sub-contractors engaged for engineering/facility works, ensuring safety rules are enforced during their course of work on company premises.
Root Cause Analysis & CAPA:
- Investigate production issues or equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Contribute to the identification of production/engineering root causes and drive resolution to closure.
Safety & Risk Management:
- Participate in and prepare Process Safety Assessments and risk assessment-based activities, including pre-job safety briefings.
- Ensure that all production and engineering activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and internal policies, including GMP and ISO requirements as applicable.
- Over see risk assessment-based activities and conduct pre-job safety briefings.
- Exercise maximum care and good judgment in preventing accidents and fire, and strictly observe the Company's safety regulations and procedures at all times.
- Serve as the Site Incident Controller (SIC) during emergency response situations.
Technical Support, Documentation & Training:
- Prepare or execute technical studies and process validation assessments, protocols, and reports.
- Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process/equipment documentation.
- Lead the execution of training programs and set up documentation and procedural controls for current and new equipment.
- Provide technical support to production and engineering team, and support training and competency development of production and engineering personnel.
New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Support scale-up and introduction of new products or processes into the production line.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Collect and analyze production data (e.g., yield, downtime, cycle time) to monitor performance and support decision-making.
Cost Control:
- Monitor resource utilization and production costs to ensure efficient operations and budget adherence.
- Identify and implement cost reduction and waste minimization initiatives while maintaining product quality and operational efficiency.
Project Management:
- Participate in or lead manufacturing improvement projects, including process optimization, automation, equipment upgrades, and facility improvement initiatives.
- Co-ordinate and lead the implementation and function of the continuous improvement program across Production, Engineering, and Warehouse.
Job Requirements :
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering or similar
- Candidates with 0-2 years of experience welcome
