Mandarin OPI/VRI Interpretation - Remote

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Mandarin OPI/VRI Interpreter. The interpreter will provide real-time Mandarin–English interpretation over the phone (OPI) and via video (VRI) for clients in sectors such as customer service, healthcare, finance, and public services. Daily tasks include accurately conveying messages between parties, maintaining confidentiality, managing call and session flow, and documenting interactions as required by client guidelines. The role also involves adhering to professional interpreting standards, staying current with terminology relevant to client industries, and collaborating with support teams to ensure smooth service delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong Mandarin and English language proficiency, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills.
• Experience in consecutive interpreting, preferably in OPI and/or VRI settings, with the ability to interpret accurately and neutrally is a plus.
• Familiarity with interpretation protocols, professional ethics, and confidentiality standards is an advantage.
• Effective communication and customer service skills, including clear articulation and a professional, calm demeanor.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and handle back-to-back calls or sessions.
• Comfort with technology, including stable internet access, use of headsets, and navigating call or video platforms.
