Role Summary:

The Mandarin Interpreter (Sourcing) will serve as a key bridge between LGS Precast and Mandarin-speaking suppliers and manufacturers. This is not a live interpretation role — the position operates on a brief-and-execute model. The interpreter receives detailed technical and commercial briefs from LGS Precast's sourcing and engineering teams, then independently conducts outreach, negotiation, and follow-up with suppliers in Mandarin, reporting back in English.

This is an ideal role for a technically literate, self-driven individual with strong Mandarin and English communication skills and familiarity with manufacturing, construction materials, or industrial supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Outreach & Communication

•      Receive technical and commercial briefs from the LGS Precast team and conduct outreach to Mandarin-speaking suppliers independently.

•      Communicate with manufacturers, vendors, and distributors in Mandarin on behalf of LGS Precast.

•      Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms as directed, and report outcomes clearly in English.

•      Follow up with suppliers on samples, quotations, and documentation.

Technical Liaison

•      Interpret and convey technical specifications, drawings references, and material requirements accurately in Mandarin.

•      Flag discrepancies or supplier concerns back to the LGS Precast team promptly.

•      Assist in reviewing supplier-provided documentation, certifications, and product data sheets.

Reporting & Documentation

•      Provide clear, concise English summaries of all supplier interactions and outcomes.

•      Maintain organized records of supplier contacts, quotes, and correspondence.

•      Support translation of key documents, product catalogs, and technical materials as needed.

Required Qualifications

•      Native or near-native Mandarin fluency (written and spoken); strong professional English proficiency.

•      Prior experience in sourcing, procurement, trading, or supplier-facing roles, particularly with Chinese manufacturers.

•      Ability to understand and accurately convey technical specifications and material requirements.

•      Self-directed and reliable working in an asynchronous, remote environment.

•      Familiarity with construction materials, precast concrete, or industrial manufacturing is a strong advantage.
