Summary
As a Test Engineering Manager, you will drive the research, development, and scale-up of the Test Content, Software, and Hardware required to deliver Ayar Labs next generation products. You will manage a team of engineers, clearing roadblocks and developing their careers. This team will be based in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and will focus on bringing up, debugging, and modifying new Tests at our Foundry and OSAT partners. You and your team will be expected to make independent decisions in the field to facilitate the on-time delivery of Test data. Based on their learnings, this team will also propose and pursue new technology development directions alongside their counterparts in San Jose. You will join a small team in a dynamic startup environment, where each member is able and expected to take on a wide range of assignments, and to learn and grow fast with the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Interface with internal customers and support test program solutions based on Product Development and Validation requirements
- Develop various testing platforms by selecting measurement hardware and optoelectronic devices, joining tester instruments, and writing reliable software to automate the test flow.
- Perform statistical analysis and data visualization to demonstrate the stability and capability of test platforms. Make decisions based on this data and present your directions/recommendations to partners across the company.
- Test and validate product yield compliance with margin to specification across critical functional areas of the products.
- Determine tester configurations, including developing Module Technical Specs and meeting with vendors to customize advanced tester modules.
- Review tester technical specifications and interfaces for conformity to design guidelines and functionality.
- Work with the Data Engineering team to ensure that test results are well structured, validated, and flows smoothly into our internal database.
- Work with colleagues and vendors to design and source material handling tools, probe cards, adaptor boards, fixtures, burn-in racks and other key optomechanical collaterals.
- Work with and train the Operations team to optimize test flows and processes to enable volume manufacturing.
- Manage the schedules and resources for your programs alongside internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor your engineers, clear roadblocks, track their timelines, and foster a culture in line with Ayar Labs core values
Basic Qualifications
- MS/PhD in Electrical Engineer, Computer Science or Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in relevant field with MS or 2+ years with PhD
- Knowledge of photonics, optics, optoelectronics, and fiber optics
- Hands-on experience with optical and electrical laboratory bench equipment
- Experience in developing software for test automation
- Broad knowledge of assembly, packaging, alignment, powering, and test methodologies
- Ability to analyze problems, perform statistical/data analysis, and apply corrective actions
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good written (white papers) and oral communication skills
- Must be on-site in Hsinchu
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing test platforms for photonic or semiconductor laser devices
- Experience working with and programming for Automated Test Equipment platforms
- Experience in robotic material handling, computer vision, and control systems
- Experience and strong knowledge in instrument connection protocols
- Ability to analyze and understand complex architecture, firmware, software, and hardware specifications
