Legal Director (Internet Data Centre)

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor to the General Manager and senior management team on all legal and commercial matters.

• Lead and manage legal support for regional data center development projects across Southeast Asia.

• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, construction agreements, EPC contracts, consultancy agreements, service agreements, procurement contracts, joint venture agreements, and strategic partnership agreements.

• Lead legal negotiations for land acquisitions, land leases, and property-related transactions required for new data center developments.

• Provide legal support throughout the entire project lifecycle, from site acquisition and development through construction, commissioning, and operational phases.

• Support commercial negotiations with customers, strategic partners, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and government-related stakeholders.

• Work closely with business, engineering, project development, finance, and investment teams to structure commercially sound transactions while managing legal risks.

• Coordinate and manage external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and cost-effective legal support.

• Advise on cross-border legal, regulatory, corporate governance, compliance, and risk management matters relating to the company's regional operations.

• Support mergers, acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, and other strategic corporate transactions where required.

• Develop and improve internal legal policies, contract management processes, and corporate governance frameworks.

• Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the data center, infrastructure, construction, and real estate sectors.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.)

• At least 10 years of relevant legal experience, with a combination of private practice and/or in-house legal experience preferred.

• Proven experience within the Internet Data Centre (IDC), data center, infrastructure, construction, telecommunications, energy, or real estate development industries.
