Legal Counsel

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Legal Counsel to join our growing team.

Position Overview:

The Legal Counsel will support the Legal & Compliance function at Singapore GasCo, providing legal advisory and contract support across the LNG and gas value chain, and support on commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the country's energy resilience while navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes across the LNG and natural gas value chain.

Job Responsibilities:

Contract Review & Drafting

• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements across the LNG value chain, including but not limited to Master Sale & Purchase Agreements, Long-Term Sale & Purchase Agreements, Gas Supply Agreements, and Terminal Use Agreements
• Support the review of financial and trading documentations, including ISDAs and other banking and financing agreements
• Advise on implementation and management of contractual obligations across the LNG value chain

Legal Advisory & Risk Support

• Conduct legal research and provide practical, business-aligned, advice on commercial and operational matters
• Support contractual risk assessments and mitigation strategies
• Assist in managing any disputes, claims, and legal exposure arising from business activities

Regulatory & Compliance

• Support the interpretation and application of regulatory frameworks relevant to GasCo's activities, including corporate governance, financial and trading requirements under Singapore and other applicable laws, regulations and rules
• Assist in ensuring that GasCo's activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, corporate governance requirements, and compliance policies
• Support compliance initiatives, including policy development, training, implementation and monitoring

Stakeholder Management & Legal Operations

• Collaborate with cross-teams to support business execution
• Liaise with external counsel, counterparties, and relevant stakeholders
• Maintain legal and compliance documentation, registers, and approval processes
• Support cross-functional and ad-hoc legal and compliance projects

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Law, or related field
• 3 to 5 years post-qualification experience (PQE), experience in corporate, energy, commodities, shipping or financial services environments preferred
• Familiar with LNG/gas contracts, key risks (e.g. force majeure, delivery risk) and regulatory frameworks governing the LNG/gas sector
• Good understanding of compliance and/or financial regulations is a plus
• Strong legal drafting and reasoning skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work across multiple workstreams
• Effective communication and stakeholder management
• Collaborative and adaptable with a strong interest in deepening knowledge of LNG commercial transactions
