Lead Systems Engineer

Coherence Bio is building an integrated benchtop system for multi-day cell and organoid workflows, keeping culture, interventions, and imaging on one timeline, with controlled, traceable execution. We have a working prototype and are now designing the version that goes to our first customers.
We're looking for the engineer who makes the whole program run.
You will:
- Own system integration across all fields — from design review to validated, working instrument
- Turn engineering findings into decided, owned, scheduled work — and drive every item to done on the bench, not in a document
- Collaborate with outside engineering partners and various suppliers; keep schedule tight and budget honest
- Work next to the team daily — debug the cross-domain problems, unblock people, set the bar by example
You have:
- 10+ years engineering and building complex electromechanical systems (instruments, robotics, semiconductor equipment, or medical devices), with at least one product taken from prototype to design validation
- Depth in one domain, working fluency across all of them — you don't write the firmware, but you know when the firmware story doesn't add up. Multi CAE/CAD is a plus.
- Hands-on habits: comfortable running a vendor negotiation and a torque wrench in the same afternoon
- Fluent English and Mandarin; calm in ambiguity; you get the best work out of brilliant, unconventional engineers
Bonus: lab-instrumentation or bioengineering background; experience with Taiwan contract engineering firms.
