Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

As a Structural Engineer for server/storage product development, you will lead and execute structural integrity analysis focusing on L11 shock/vibration, seismic compliance, and advanced FEA modeling. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product reliability under extreme mechanical conditions and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience with 19, 21, ORv3, or double-wide rack, including collaboration on customized rack solutions.
  • Perform shock, vibration, and seismic structural analysis and deliver comprehensive reports with mitigation plans for identified risks.
  • Delivering mechanical structure analysis reports, and the mitigation solution/plan to fix mechanical structure defects.
  • Conduct FEA simulations using tools such as Ansys Mechanical, LS-DYNA, and provide early-phase design risk assessments.
  • Capable of defining suitable process and working models to fulfill diverse business requirements.
  • Develop and execute shock/vibration and seismic reliability testing using structural equipment (Shock Table, Vibration Table, Package Drop Machine, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.).
  • Validation test support includes material preparation, system setup, schedule tracking.
  • Build and maintain shock/vibration and seismic-related specifications, SOPs, and playbooks.
  • Mechanical relative research and workshops.
  • Collaborate with cross-functions to have successful delivery on business.
  • Fulfill 80% or more of above

Basic Requirements:

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanics, Marine engineering, Civil engineering or equivalent experience beyond.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical development, structure analysis, FEA.
  • Familiar reliability validation testing and industry spec in the mechanical structure field.
  • Strong knowledge of shock/vibration theory, seismic standards (e.g., GR-63-CORE), and spectrum analysis techniques.
  • Comfortable presenting to technical audiences in English language.
  • Strong relationship management skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across many levels of a matrixed organization.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Fluent in English language (verbal and written)
  • Experience with Python and/or simulation tool plugin development
  • Packaging engineering experience
