Senior Developer - BIOS/EC Firmware Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Developer with

strong expertise in C, C++, and Python to design, develop, and optimize

embedded software solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on

experience in BIOS/EC Firmware Engineer with strong fundamentals in

platform firmware and hardware interfaces. Candidate will have hands-on

experience in BIOS/EC development, deep understanding of system-level

communication protocols, and proven ability to work closely with ODM

partners

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for SoC/MCUbased systems.

• Design and develop BIOS/UEFI and EC firmware features for client

platforms.

• Work on core platform bring-up, feature enablement, and

customization.

• Collaborate closely with ODM partners for Root cause analysis,

debugging platform issues, Driving fixes and feature enhancements

• Implement and validate communication between BIOS and Embedded

Controller (EC).

• Analyze hardware-software interaction issues using logs, traces, and

debug tools.

• Implement and optimize code in C, C++, and Python for embedded

applications.

• Collaborate with hardware and system teams to ensure seamless

integration.

• Debug and troubleshoot firmware issues across multiple platforms.

• Contribute to automation pipeline development for continuous

integration and deployment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware development, EC

preferred.

• Strong proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming languages.

• Solid experience in embedded software development for SoC/MCU

systems.

• Familiarity with UART, I2C, and eSPI communication protocols.

• Strong experience in BIOS/UEFI and/or Embedded Controller (EC)

firmware development.

o BIOS architecture and boot flow

o BIOS–EC interaction mechanisms

• Experience in low-level debugging and system bring-up.

• Previous working experience with IHVs is much better

Preferred (Nice to Have):

•Experience with Azure RTOS, FreeRTOS, or Embedded Linux systems.

• Knowledge of automation pipeline development and CI/CD practices.

• Experience in Dock firmware development

Firmware Validation Engineer

Objectives of this Role

• BIOS and Embedded system development and validation.

• Ensuring release quality from customer perspective

• Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers

• Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure

• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

• Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results

• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

• Understanding spec and translate it to acceptance criteria for test automation

• Working in highly collaborative teams and building quality code

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

• Work with BIOS/EC developers, validation team and ODM to ensure that

development follows established processes and works as intended

• Manage BIOS/EC test plans and manage BIOS/EC release with quality

• Validation and quality champion in Scrum team

• Issue triage for engineer release and production release

• Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience

• Perform first step analysis for production errors

• Investigate and resolve technical issues

• Develop scripts to automate visualization

• Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance

Skills and Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field

• 5-8 year experience in embedded firmware/software or BIOS development with strong

knowledge of C, C++ and python

• Experience in validation on embedded system

• Experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role

• Familiar with validation methodologies and test automation

• Experience with git and git workflows

• Experience with BIOS/EC engineering and customer experience

• Familiar with embedded SW/ARM architecture and RTOS.
