Job Description

Overview

As an L2 Network Engineer, you will provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex network environments across enterprise and data center infrastructures. You will work closely with global customers, L1 support teams, and engineering groups to diagnose, resolve, and prevent network issues while ensuring high service quality and operational stability. This role is ideal for networking professionals with strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience in routing, switching, wireless, and data center technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level technical support for network-related incidents and service requests involving routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and data center technologies.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues.
  • Analyze logs, packet captures, and system behavior to identify faults and implement corrective actions.
  • Configure, maintain, and support Cisco networking solutions across enterprise and data center environments.
  • Collaborate with L1, L3, TAC, and engineering teams to resolve escalated customer issues within agreed service levels.
  • Support and troubleshoot Cisco Nexus, Catalyst, ACI, Wireless, and SD-WAN environments.
  • Participate in network changes, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to L1 engineers.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through effective communication and timely resolution of issues.

Required Skills & Knowledge

Networking Technologies

  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with Switching technologies including:
  • STP, RSTP, MSTP
  • VLAN, VTP
  • EtherChannel/LACP
  • Port Security
  • Strong understanding of Routing Protocols:
  • RIP
  • EIGRP
  • OSPF
  • IS-IS
  • BGP
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise and data center network environments.

Cisco Technologies

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms, including:
  • Catalyst 9300, 9500, 3850, 4500, 6500, 6800
  • Nexus 3000, 5000, 7000, 9000 Series
  • Working knowledge of Cisco ACI environments.
  • Experience with Cisco Wireless solutions and controllers.
  • Familiarity with Cisco SD-WAN and Cisco DNA Center (DNAC).
  • Exposure to Cisco UCS is an advantage.

Troubleshooting & Operations

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience using packet captures, log analysis, and network monitoring tools.
  • Ability to perform fault isolation, root cause analysis, and issue remediation independently.
  • Experience working in customer-facing support environments and handling critical incidents.

Experience & Education

  • 3-7 years of experience in network support, operations, NOC, TAC, or technical troubleshooting environments.
  • CCNA required; CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Data Center preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting enterprise and/or data center infrastructure for global customers is highly preferred.
