We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented QA Engineer to join the Cast Lite team in Taiwan.

Cast Lite is an optimized, cross-device framework bringing seamless multi-screen casting experiences (video, audio, and device orchestration) to resource-constrained and Linux-based receiver devices, including TVs and smart speakers. In this role, you will ensure the reliability, functional correctness, low latency, and high-performance standards of user-facing features across a wide-ranging hardware and software ecosystem.

• Test Strategy & Execution: Design and execute comprehensive test plans for user-facing features driven by upcoming Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and internal playbooks. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, leveraging technical playbooks and critical thinking to navigate requirements.
• Automation Opportunities: Identify, drive, and scale test automation opportunities to optimize regression testing, minimize manual bottlenecks, and elevate overall test coverage.
• Cross-Device & Ecosystem Testing: Validate deep cross-device interoperability across complex OS combinations, including:
• Senders: iOS devices, First-Party (1P) phones, and Third-Party (3P) phones.
• Receivers: 1P and 3P TVs and smart speakers.
• Upstream & Integrations: Validate interactions with external partner integrations (e.g., LG, Bose) and upstream media service providers (such as Spotify and YouTube collaborations).
• Performance & Reliability Assurance: Rigorously profile and test for Functional Quality, System Reliability, Latency, and Power consumption under various network and hardware strains.
• Deficiency Tracking & Reporting: Track bugs, perform root-cause analysis, and work closely with engineering teams to resolve issues rapidly.

• Execute structured test plans, support regression passes, and assist in identifying functional and performance regressions.
• Collaborate closely with the Lead and broader team to learn the Cast Lite architecture and contribute to test script automation.
  

• English: Intermediate working proficiency (required for global stakeholder collaboration, reading technical documentation, and writing bug reports).
• Mandarin Chinese: Native or professional working proficiency (preferred for day-to-day coordination with the local Taiwan engineering team).

Required Skills:

• Tested Android/iOS devices and used related testing tools.
• Skilled in identifying and reporting issues.
• Experienced in creating reports and presenting data.
• Intermediate English proficiency.

Good to Have: Coding & Scripting Languages

• Python / JavaScript / TypeScript: Required for writing, scaling, and maintaining automated test scripts, frameworks, and tooling.
• C / C++: Preferred for understanding underlying embedded systems, Linux-based receiver codebases, and performance/power profiling.
• Bash / Shell Scripting: Essential for automation, test environment setup, log parsing, and running regression pipelines on Linux/Unix environments.
  
  

• Experience:
• Solid foundational knowledge in software QA methodologies, a passion for automation, and eagerness to learn complex media streaming/cross-device tech.
• Technical Background: Experience testing embedded systems, Linux-based receivers, mobile applications (iOS/Android), or media/streaming technologies.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent cross-functional communication skills to work closely with local engineering teams and global stakeholders.
• Mindset: Proactive, autonomous, and capable of navigating ambiguous requirements using official playbooks and PRDs.

• Familiarity with casting protocols, cross-device frameworks, SDKs, or connected TV ecosystems.
• Experience testing media playback, low-latency streaming protocols, or power/performance profiling on resource-constrained devices.
