The Role: M&A and Strategic Investments
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize acquisition and investment opportunities across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and the Middle East.
- Conduct commercial, strategic, and competitive analysis on target companies.
- Develop investment theses and acquisition rationales.
- Prepare target screening reports and investment recommendations for management review.
Financial Analysis & Valuation
- Analyze financial statements, SaaS metrics, and operating performance.
- Build and maintain financial models and valuation analyses.
- Assess acquisition synergies, revenue opportunities, and integration considerations.
- Support due diligence and transaction execution activities.
Corporate Development
- Support strategic initiatives across Vernal and its portfolio companies.
- Evaluate market expansion opportunities, partnership opportunities, and ecosystem development initiatives.
- Assist in post-merger integration and value creation initiatives where applicable.
Industry Research
- Conduct deep-dive research into RegTech, FinTech, Compliance, Risk Management, and Financial Infrastructure sectors.
- Track industry trends, fundraising activity, competitive developments, and M&A transactions.
- Produce market maps, industry reports, and strategic insights.
Executive-Level Exposure
- Participate in meetings with founders, investors, and senior executives.
- Support board materials, investment committee presentations, and transaction-related discussions.
Requirements
Education
Candidates should meet one of the following criteria:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an MBA program; or
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Law, or a related discipline; or
- Demonstrated interest and relevant experience in investments, M&A, corporate strategy, consulting, technology, financial services, or entrepreneurship.
Candidates from top universities with strong academic performance are preferred.
Experience
Candidates should meet one of the following criteria:
Option A
- Prior internship experience in one or more of the above fields, with demonstrated interest in investments, M&A, corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, or technology sectors.
Option B
- MBA candidates with relevant academic, entrepreneurial, consulting, investment, or corporate development experience.
Option C
- 1–3 years of full-time professional experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Transaction Advisory
- Technology or Financial Services
Skills
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong ability to leverage AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, or similar platforms) to enhance research, market analysis, workflow automation, and productivity.
- Ability to use AI-assisted workflows for industry research, target screening, due diligence preparation, data synthesis, and presentation development.
- Ability to analyze business models, market opportunities, and financial performance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in RegTech, FinTech, Compliance, Risk Management, Financial Infrastructure, SaaS, AI.
- Exposure to valuation, financial modeling, due diligence, or transaction processes.
- Familiarity with SaaS business models and recurring revenue metrics.
- Fluency in English; Mandarin is a strong advantage.
Internship Details
- Location: Singapore
- Duration: 6 months
- Full-time preferred
- Potential conversion to a full-time Investment Analyst or Corporate Development Analyst role based on performance
