Position: Instrument Engineer (New Setup Lakchai MuangYang Industry) Company: Birla Carbon (Thailand) Public Company Limited
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures and global safety standards.
- Review and apply basic instrumentation engineering knowledge to project execution.
- Verify designs and propose improvements based on the latest available technologies.
- Oversee full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.
- Supervise erection and commissioning of instrumentation systems such as DCS, PLC, Analyzers, Weigh Bridge, BMS (Boiler & Dryer), Power Plant Controllers, iMCC, etc.
- Provide support to cross-functional teams to ensure timely project execution.
- Manage and supervise lower-level staff and contractual manpower for construction projects.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a focus on quality and safety.
- Coordinate with government agencies for regulatory approvals (e.g., weigh bridge stamping).
- Maintain and update drawings, documentation, and records related to instrumentation.
- Support internal and external audits related to instrumentation and safety compliance.
- Perform development, installation, calibration, and maintenance of DCS, PLC, control valves, and other instrumentation systems.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings (e.g., P&ID).
- Apply knowledge of various types of instruments (Temperature, Pressure, Flow, and Level).
- Use SAP PM module and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and analysis.
- Apply 5S principles and material management techniques in daily operations.
- Utilize analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Instrumentation Engineering.
- Minimum 58 years of working experience in instrumentation engineering.
- Experience in Greenfield or large Brownfield projects will be an advantage.
- Experience in carbon black, petrochemical, chemical, or refinery industries will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in:
- DCS and PLC development.
- Installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
- Preparation and interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Good knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Strong computer literacy: SAP PM module, MS Excel, PowerPoint.
- Good leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with a strong focus on safety and quality.
