Job Description

Position: Instrument Engineer (New Setup Lakchai MuangYang Industry) Company: Birla Carbon (Thailand) Public Company Limited

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures and global safety standards.
  2. Review and apply basic instrumentation engineering knowledge to project execution.
  3. Verify designs and propose improvements based on the latest available technologies.
  4. Oversee full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.
  5. Supervise erection and commissioning of instrumentation systems such as DCS, PLC, Analyzers, Weigh Bridge, BMS (Boiler & Dryer), Power Plant Controllers, iMCC, etc.
  6. Provide support to cross-functional teams to ensure timely project execution.
  7. Manage and supervise lower-level staff and contractual manpower for construction projects.
  8. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a focus on quality and safety.
  9. Coordinate with government agencies for regulatory approvals (e.g., weigh bridge stamping).
  10. Maintain and update drawings, documentation, and records related to instrumentation.
  11. Support internal and external audits related to instrumentation and safety compliance.
  12. Perform development, installation, calibration, and maintenance of DCS, PLC, control valves, and other instrumentation systems.
  13. Prepare and review engineering drawings (e.g., P&ID).
  14. Apply knowledge of various types of instruments (Temperature, Pressure, Flow, and Level).
  15. Use SAP PM module and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and analysis.
  16. Apply 5S principles and material management techniques in daily operations.
  17. Utilize analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation issues.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelors Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Instrumentation Engineering.
  2. Minimum 58 years of working experience in instrumentation engineering.
  3. Experience in Greenfield or large Brownfield projects will be an advantage.
  4. Experience in carbon black, petrochemical, chemical, or refinery industries will be preferred.
  5. Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in:
  6. DCS and PLC development.
  7. Installation, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation systems.
  8. Preparation and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  9. Good knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.
  10. Strong computer literacy: SAP PM module, MS Excel, PowerPoint.
  11. Good leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  12. Ability to manage multiple tasks with a strong focus on safety and quality.
