The Head of State Street Associates APAC is a leadership role representing our global State Street Associates (SSA) research enterprise in the Asia Pacific region. SSA is a unique partnership between State Street Markets and thought leaders in academic finance. In collaboration with our academic partners, we produce data-driven indicators, tools, and original research that is frequently published in academic and practitioner journals. In close collaboration with our team of market strategists, our research business has a track record of helping the world's largest institutional investors and asset managers solve complex problems, manage investment risk, and enhance portfolio performance. Our client base includes the world's most sophisticated institutional investors, spanning real-money asset managers and hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds, pensions, central banks, and others.
The Head of SSA APAC role is based in Hong Kong, and it reports to the Global Head of SSA (based in Cambridge, Massachusetts) with a dual reporting line to the Head of Macro Strategy APAC (based in Hong Kong).

What you will be responsible for
As the Head of SSA APAC you will:
Collaborate with senior team members to maximize the impact of our Markets research brand and client engagement in the APAC region
Build and manage robust client relationships in partnership with our sales teams, proactively representing our full suite of research offerings with compelling enthusiasm and expert-level knowledge
Provide exceptional client service in response to inquiries, lead and deliver on high-priority custom client projects in collaboration with other research analysts, and package/customize research offerings to meet local market demands
Conduct innovative original research, and contribute to the conception, design and (in some cases) implementation of new products, especially in the context of APAC-related opportunities
Seek opportunities to present at conferences and other industry events, and enhance our overall brand presence
Develop a highly effective working knowledge of State Street's businesses as relevant to research, forge productive collaborations across the company, and maintain a robust environment of processes and controls in support of our objectives for the research business

Education and Preferred Qualifications:
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with exceptional quantitative skills and presentation skills, and a desire to engage with clients and colleagues as a research expert.
5+ years of experience in a quantitative research role, ideally with substantial experience presenting to and collaborating with external clients. Robust knowledge of financial markets, investment strategy analysis, portfolio theory, statistical analysis, economic concepts.
Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a related discipline, with strong demonstrated quant/coding/analytical abilities.
Exceptional presentation skills with high attention to detail, both for verbal and written communication, ideally with demonstrated success in a client-facing research role.
Ability to self-direct and work collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment is critical.
Relevant local language skills / multilingual is a plus.
