Head of Legal
Our Client, an established financial institution, is seeking an experienced Head of Legal to lead its in‑house legal function. This is a senior leadership role overseeing a team of lawyers and paralegals, providing strategic legal guidance across multiple business units and the corporate office.
The Role
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal counsels and paralegals.
- Serve as the organisation's key legal advisor on corporate, regulatory, commercial, and transactional matters.
- Partner closely with business leaders to support product development, lending activities, corporate initiatives, and governance matters.
- Oversee legal risk management, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and engagement with external counsel.
- Drive continuous improvement of legal processes, policies, and frameworks.
Requirements
- At least 15 years PQE, with strong grounding in corporate, commercial, or financial services law.
- Experience in financial institutions, either in private practice or in‑house, is highly preferred.
- Proven leadership capability in managing legal teams and advising senior stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of MAS regulations, lending products, and financial services operations.
- Excellent judgement, communication skills, and ability to balance commercial needs with legal risk
