The Legal Compliance Organization (LCO) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA and second headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI provides legal guidance to further KLA's strategic objectives and protect and preserve the legal, ethical and financial integrity and reputation of the Company. With specific expertise in the areas of corporate law, commercial law, employment law, and intellectual property the LCO offers strategic legal counsel that is informed by a clear understanding of the company's business objectives and expertise in the laws and regulations relevant to the business worldwide.
Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
- Ensure compliance with applicable import and export regulations, including those of Taiwan, the U.S., and other relevant jurisdictions.
- Lead and support HS code classification and ECCN reviews and ensure compliance with Taiwan import and export requirements.
- Support daily operational needs by reviewing and releasing export orders, including urgent or ad hoc shipments, as required.
- Coordinate and support applications for required export and import licenses, permits, and certifications with relevant government authorities.
- Support the establishment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Taiwan's Internal Compliance Program (ICP).
- Assist with ICP documentation, internal controls, training support, and compliance monitoring activities.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams (including logistics, procurement, engineering, and legal) to ensure import and export operations align with corporate compliance standards and business objectives.
- Support KLA Global Trade Compliance team on regional and corporate‑level initiatives and projects.
Qualifications
- BS is preferred, along with 3-5 years Trade Compliance experience and a good understanding of the international business environment
- Good knowledge of Taiwan import/export regulations, especially mechanical and electrical product HS tariff classification and customs declaration requirements. Knowledge of customs valuation and country-of-origin requirements a plus.
- Experience using automated trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS)
- Applying ICP program experience is helpful
- Technical/engineering background or experience is helpful
- Experience in high-tech industry or the semiconductor industry is preferred
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills in a global, cross‑functional environment.
