General Manager

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to oversee business operations, strengthen organisational performance and drive sustainable growth for an established B2B trading and engineering business in Singapore.

Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for translating business objectives into actionable plans, improving operational efficiency, developing people and ensuring that key departments work cohesively towards common goals.

This role is suited for a hands-on leader with strong commercial acumen, sound operational judgement and the ability to balance revenue growth, cost management, customer relationships and organisational effectiveness.

What You Will Do

• Oversee day-to-day business operations and ensure alignment with the company's strategic objectives.

• Develop and execute business plans to drive revenue growth, profitability and long-term sustainability.

• Lead and coordinate key functions, including Sales, Finance, Procurement, Logistics and other operational departments.

• Establish clear departmental objectives, performance indicators and accountability measures.

• Review sales performance, financial results, operating costs and business trends to identify improvement opportunities.

• Drive business development initiatives, strengthen key customer relationships and explore new market opportunities.

• Improve operational processes, inventory management, supply chain coordination and overall productivity.

• Work closely with department heads to resolve operational challenges and improve cross-functional collaboration.

• Develop, coach and manage department leaders and employees to build a capable, accountable and performance-driven organisation.

• Oversee budgeting, resource planning and cost-control initiatives to support business objectives.

• Ensure appropriate internal controls, business policies and regulatory requirements are observed.

• Identify business risks, evaluate opportunities and recommend practical solutions to senior management.

• Provide regular management reports, business updates and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

What We Are Looking For

• At least 10 years of relevant management experience, preferably with exposure to B2B trading, distribution, engineering, industrial products or related industries.

• Proven experience managing multiple business functions and leading teams towards measurable commercial outcomes.

• Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand financial performance, profitability, operating costs and business drivers.

• Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency, strengthen processes and implement practical business improvements.

• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Able to make sound decisions, solve complex operational issues and manage competing business priorities.

• Experience in sales management, supply chain, procurement or distribution operations will be an advantage.

• Proficient in business reporting, budgeting and common business systems, including ERP platforms.

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Management, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline is preferred.

• Mature, hands-on and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently and engage effectively with senior management and employees at all levels.
