The Office of Student Affairs invites applications for the position of Functional Manager of the Student Experience and Development Section. The role is for an individual with a strategic mindset, a strong commitment, and excellent execution abilities leading the Section to implementing initiatives that enhance student experiential learning experiences in alignment with the University's strategic plan.The appointee will be responsible for contributing to the execution of the University's strategic objectives related to student experience and holistic development. We seek a capable leader who demonstrates professionalism and is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students.Applicants should have (i) a good honors degree, preferably with a higher degree (ii) at least ten years post-qualification experience at an appropriate level (iii) excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) (iv) excellent execution abilities (v) strong interpersonal, managerial, organizational, analytical and communication skills and (v) proven leadership qualities and strong team spirit.The appointee will be responsible for (a) initiating and delivering high-impact student development initiatives, including but not limited to national education and leadership programmes, as well as mentoring student leaders to foster civic responsibility, resilience, and cross-cultural understanding (b) overseeing and managing a diverse range of student associations, bodies, and societies, ensuring compliance with institutional policies while promoting inclusivity, and student engagement (c) playing an active role in crisis management, providing timely support and guidance and (d) representing the office at events, often outside regular office hours, including university ceremonies, student-led functions, serving as a key liaison between the student body and senior management.The successful candidate will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centred environment. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. It is the territory's second-oldest university and was founded as a federation of three existing colleges – Chung Chi College, New Asia College and United College – the oldest of which was founded in 1949.
CUHK is organized into nine constituent colleges and eight academic faculties, and remains the only collegiate university in the territory. The university operates in both English and Chinese, although classes in most colleges are taught in English. Four Nobel laureates are associated with the university, and it is the only tertiary institution in Hong Kong with recipients of the Nobel Prize, Turing Award, Fields Medal and Veblen Prize sitting as faculty in residence.
