Job Description

Your Job

Molex is seeking a Front-End Product Design Engineer to join the HPC2 New Product Development team. This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of customer innovation and internal engineering. You will act as the primary technical interface at customer sites, collaborating directly with customer R&D to refine high-speed cable and connector designs in real-time. Your mission is to accelerate the design-in process by providing on-site technical expertise, performing immediate CAD modifications, and ensuring seamless communication between the customer's requirements and Molex's internal engineering teams.

Our Team

  • Real-Time Design Iteration: Perform on-the-spot 3D model and 2D drawing modifications based on customer feedback to expedite design freezes and validation cycles.
  • Requirement Translation (VOC): Directly capture Voice of Customer (VOC) and translate complex system-level needs into actionable mechanical design specifications for the internal team.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as the technical bridge, bringing engineering challenges or new requirements back to the factory/internal engineers and ensuring internal solutions meet customer expectations.
  • Design Analysis & Feasibility: Conduct preliminary design reviews and feasibility studies on-site using simulation data and existing design platforms to provide immediate technical feedback.
  • Evaluate design feasibility for new projects by leveraging existing platforms while also developing new designs and intellectual property.
  • Validation Support: Lead on-site troubleshooting during validation builds and resolve assembly or manufacturability issues (DFM) in the customer's environment.
  • Build and maintain component-level and product-level databases using standard office tools to improve design reuse and engineering efficiency.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain precise engineering documentation, BOMs, and revision history, ensuring that on-site changes are accurately synchronized with internal databases.

  • Working knowledge of PCB integration, surface finishes, assembly processes, and product development workflows.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents and email communication in English.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
  • Willingness to work on-site at customer locations and travel as required to support project milestones.

  • Background in consumer, commercial, or electronic product development.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience interacting directly with customers.
  • Strong background in precision component design or electromechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer relationships and present technical solutions under pressure.
