Position Summary

Deluxe's localization arm specializes in subtitling, closed captioning and translation services for major motion picture studios, film festivals, broadcast, streaming, and cable networks. We are currently seeking experienced Mandarin (Simplified) into English scripting translator to work on high-profile content.

Role Description

• Scripting Translators are responsible for providing faithful, unadopted, sensical translations that adhere to scripting guidelines and quality expectations.
• They also perform QA of this type of work completed by other linguists.
• Mandarin Simplified Into English is a requirement for Non-English Original Version translators because the deliverables to clients are pivot language dialogue lists wherein US English is the pivot language.

Main Duties & role specific requirements

• Creation of descriptive and context-based annotations to ensure proper translation of the material.
• Work from US English templates for non-English content, including dialogue and nonverbal elements that accurately represent the content and nature of the project.
• Deep understanding of culture from the region of the source language.
• 1-3 years of experience in translation and review, editing, proofreading.

General requirements

• Speaker of the source language to full professional proficiency (IRL Level 4)
• Speaker of the US English target language to a native level (IRL Level 5) or full professional proficiency (IRL Level 4)
• Has an excellent knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation and ongoing engagement with the language.
• Cultural sensitivity and extensive understanding of terminological/cultural nuances
