Job Description

About the initiative

Teman Collective Ground Up is a new Singapore initiative designing a living ecosystem for work and enterprise, built around ten specialist streams.

Travel & Cultural Experiences is the first stream to open. It brings together communityowned structures, regenerative travel, and real career pathways for people who don't just want to go on trips, but want to help build them.

We're seeking our first Singapore cohort for this Travel & Cultural Experiences stream to help design and test new retreats, smallgroup journeys, hosted learning experiences and, in time, a Singapore catalogue of local experiences. Our aim is that the people who help build this stream now can grow into future paid roles and shared responsibility for how the wider ecosystem operates.

The beauty of this opportunity is that we're not starting from zero. We already have:

  • A live platform, Green Cultural Travel, with existing journeys and smallgroup experiences in multiple countries waiting to be brought back online.
  • Costing templates that make it simple to design, cost and price new products
  • Relationships with travel and impact partners globally who are ready to cocreate retreats, tours and hosted learning experiences
  • An interim Australian company we can trade from collectively while the Singapore structures are being set up
What this opportunity is

This is a volunteer/intern founding cohort for people in Singapore who:

  • Have ever dreamed of a career in travel
  • Want to learn how real travel products are built
  • Are excited to cocreate something new and grow into shared paid roles together over time

It's not a traditional job yet. It's a chance to be in the room early, learn the playbook, and help shape a travel stream that can grow into paid, teambased roles as we launch more products and formalise the Singapore entities.

Who this is for

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

  • A student or fresh grad exploring travel, tourism, hospitality, events or social impact
  • Midcareer and quietly thinking travel is where I'm meant to be
  • A host, youth leader, community organiser or storyteller who loves showing people your Singapore
  • Someone who enjoys planning trips, connecting details, caring for people, and working in small teams

You need to be based in Singapore, comfortable with English (other languages are a plus), and able to commit consistent time each week.

Roles in this founding cohort

We're especially looking for people who lean towards one (or both) of these directions:

1. Product Developers – Retreats, SmallGroup Tours, Hosted Learning, Singapore Catalogue

You're excited by designing experiences and getting the details right. In this stream you will:

  • Use existing templates to turn ideas into real, costed and priced products (retreats, smallgroup tours, hosted learning experiences)
  • Cocreate programmes with our network of global travel and impact partners
  • Help build out a Singapore experiences catalogue – neighbourhood walks, cultural trails, community visits, themed experiences and more
  • Work with the wider Teman / Guild of Life ecosystem to align products with regenerative and communityfirst principles

2. Destination & Experience Managers – Coordinating Delivery with Partners

You enjoy making sure everything actually happens the way it was designed. In this stream you will:

  • Act as the key coordinator for specific retreats, smallgroup tours, hosted learning and MICEstyle opportunities
  • Liaise with our travel and impact partners to confirm that the experience is being delivered to agreed standards and values
  • Keep track of timings, logistics, suppliers and guest needs before, during and after an experience
  • Capture feedback and learnings from each departure so that product developers and tour leaders can keep improving future offerings

3. Tour Leaders – SmallGroup Journeys from Singapore into Indonesia and Malaysia

You're energised by being on the ground with people. In this stream you will:

  • Help host and lead smallgroup journeys departing from Singapore into nearby destinations such as Indonesia and Malaysia
  • Coordinate logistics between locations, support travellers on the road, and make sure each journey runs smoothly and safely
  • Work alongside local partners and guides, holding the through line of the trip and embodying Teman's values in real time
  • Feed back learnings from each journey to improve future products and systems

You don't need professional tourleading or destinationmanagement experience yet; we're looking for strong people skills, reliability, and a genuine care for travellers and communities. Training and mentoring will be provided.

Time commitment
  • Approximately 5–8 hours per week for an initial 6month phase
  • Mix of online calls/planning and, as pilots begin, some evenings or weekends for inperson experiences and test journeysfor those that want to follow the tour leader stream.
  • We'll work with you to agree a realistic commitment alongside your existing work or study

  • Compensation and future pathways

Right now, this is a volunteer founding opportunity.

What we can offer in this phase:

    • Structured learning on product development, pricing, and regenerative travel models
    • Mentoring, a small peer group, and real experience designing and delivering trips
    • A clear place in the story as part of the founding Singapore cohort

What we are building towards together:

    • Defined paid roles in product development, hosting, coordination and operations as products go live and revenue grows
    • Teambased ways of sharing value and responsibility as the travel stream and wider ecosystem mature

We want to be transparent: there is no guaranteed salary on day one. The intention is that this founding cohort grows into the first circle of people that create this as a team and shared upside as the travel stream becomes fully operational.

    How to express interest

If this feels like the kind of doorway you've been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you.

    • Please click Apply and your CV

After you apply, we'll invite you to register for an upcoming online information briefing where we'll walk through the Travel & Cultural Experiences stream in more detail, explain how the founding cohort will work, and answer questions.

You don't need to have it all figured out. Curiosity, reliability, a collaborative spirit and a genuine love for travel and people are the most important starting points.
