The purpose of the role is to work with the Regional/Market CFO and CEO as well as other stakeholders to increase profitability, drive improved cashflow and reduce risks across the market/region. Commercial Finance has over-arching responsibility for the quality and accuracy of all forecasts and budgets, to provide leadership to the Commercial Finance function across the region and to ensure there is a regular and systematic reporting of insight and analysis covering key focus areas such as revenue, margin, costs as well as client profitability and cashflows.
Job Description:
- Provides senior management with the insight, challenge and timely analysis, intelligence and recommendations required to make commercial, operational, financial, and strategic decisions. Acts as a senior finance business partner to monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and using other data sources to offer strategic advice and help senior management to deliver on financial commitments. Works with key market / region and group stakeholders to understand business needs in order to make the best decisions that improve results or reduce risk. Build analytical capability around revenue management , client profitability and margin optimisation and help develop and support LoB strategy
- Leads the monthly financial analysis process for the market / region ensuring business leaders understand all the key drivers of performance. Facilitates and drives the annual budgeting and monthly and quarterly financial forecasting processes, be responsible for developing improved financial reports and analysis, developing best in class forecast models and ensuring appropriate escalation of business critical issues. Ensures key trends in financial performance key are understood and that management understands the options to improve performance
- Works with the markets/LoBs to improve revenue and margin forecasting, including enhanced pipeline management and analysis. Supports the various Group initiatives to improve OP % margin delivery through the markets / LoBs by offering timely analysis and support, providing valuable insight and costed options to improve performance and deep analysis of client/revenue trends. Works with the markets to drive the client profitability workstream and ensure that margin improvement plans are developed within the business
- Improves visibility and analysis around cost management processes (staff and non-staff costs), facilitates target setting and help to drive efficiencies in partnership with CEO, CFO. Improves quality of analysis and forecasting of staff cost by using workday, time sheet and utilisation data and working with business leaders/HR to ensure business has a solid framework for managing staff costs. Increases accuracy of cash flow forecasting processes, proactively identify key trends and challenges, facilitates net working capital improvements by ensuring working capital improvement opportunities are identified and actioned in any commercial negotiation
- Leads the Region /Market based Commercial Finance team, ensuring individual development and growth. Ensures that the development of the Commercial Finance capability is correctly sized for the market and ensure that we are recruiting, retaining and promoting the best commercial finance talent. Ensures that Commercial Finance issues are adequately represented within the wider Finance Function
- As required, flex into other areas such as supporting M&A acquisition work streams and successful integration of any acquired businesses, work to improve both the quality and use of finance data across the business including working to improve access via dashboards and other tools and participating in ad-hoc projects as required from time to time. Ultimately ensures that key decisions are made on a fully evaluated basis
