A global hightechnology organization is seeking a
Field Application Scientist to support customers operating advanced semiconductor manufacturing lines. The role focuses on
application enablement, data integrity, and technical partnership, ensuring that metrology systems are successfully deployed, adopted, and optimized in production environments.
This position combines
handson system interaction,
scientific problemsolving, and
direct customer engagement, working closely with both customers and internal engineering teams to address complex technical challenges and enable longterm success.
Primary Responsibilities
CustomerFacing Technical Ownership
- Serve as the main technical point of contact for customers on application and datarelated matters.
- Engage with customer engineers to understand process needs, inspection requirements, and decision drivers.
- Translate manufacturing challenges into actionable technical solutions.
System Readiness & Deployment Support
- Support the introduction of new metrology systems into customer production environments.
- Ensure systems are technically ready for use through validation of performance and data quality.
- Assist customers during early adoption stages to stabilize usage and confidence.
Application & Recipe Development
- Develop, refine, and manage application workflows and tool recipes aligned with customer processes.
- Troubleshoot data consistency, quality, and repeatability issues in highvolume production.
- Perform targeted measurements and experiments to address processspecific questions.
Evaluation & Project Execution
- Support technical evaluations, sidebyside comparisons, and collaborative development efforts with customers.
- Define technical success criteria and guide execution to demonstrate measurable value.
- Align technical outcomes with broader project and business objectives.
Data Analysis & Technical Assessment
- Analyze complex datasets using structured, datadriven approaches.
- Apply statistical techniques or modeling methods to interpret results and identify trends.
- Prepare clear technical summaries to support customer understanding and decisionmaking.
Exploration of New Use Cases
- Identify opportunities where metrology or inspection technologies can address unmet challenges.
- Conduct feasibility studies to validate new application concepts.
- Share findings with internal stakeholders to support roadmap and capability development.
Internal Collaboration & Knowledge Building
- Work with internal engineering, research, and applications teams to resolve advanced technical issues.
- Contribute to the development of best practices, application libraries, and internal knowhow.
- Support capability growth through mentoring and knowledge sharing when applicable.
Mobility & Regional Support
- Travel to customer sites within Taiwan on a regular basis.
- Provide technical support to other regions on a periodic basis when required.
Candidate Profile
Education & Background
- Advanced degree in a science or engineering discipline (e.g. materials science, physics, chemistry, electrical or chemical engineering).
- Several years of experience working with complex equipment in manufacturing or applied research environments.
Technical Strengths
- Experience working in or with semiconductor manufacturing, inspection, or metrology systems.
- Strong analytical capability, with comfort working on large or complex datasets.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis, modeling, or computational tools is desirable.
- Basic scripting or programming exposure (e.g. Python, MATLAB, similar tools) is advantageous.
Communication & Work Style
- Confident engaging directly with customers on technical topics.
- Able to communicate complex concepts clearly in Mandarin and English.
- Selfdirected, methodical, and comfortable working independently in customer environments.
- Adaptable to fastmoving production settings with shifting technical priorities.
