Established in 1987 and headquartered in Taiwan, TSMC pioneered the pure-play foundry business model with an exclusive focus on manufacturing its customers products. As of 2024, TSMC serves more than 500 customers and manufactures over 11,000 products for high-performance computing, smartphones, the Internet of Things (IoT), automotive, and digital consumer electronics. In Arizona, TSMC is building three fabs, with the first starting 4nm production in 2025, the second by 2028, and the third by the end of the decade.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Export Control Specialist to drive compliance with global trade regulations and export control policies. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of monitoring regulatory changes, streamlining compliance processes, fostering collaboration with stakeholders, and delivering impactful training on export-related requirements. Success in this position calls for exceptional bilingual communication skills, a solid engineering background, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Legal qualifications, semiconductor industry experience, and expertise in international trade or export control will further distinguish you as a candidate of choice.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Proactively monitor, analyze, and report changes in trade controls, sanctions, and related regulations across key regions, including the US, Taiwan, Japan, and the EU.
2. Review, prepare, submit, and oversee export compliance-related classifications, license applications, and regulatory reports to ensure seamless adherence to requirements.
3. Assess hiring practices and related requests to maintain compliance with deemed export regulations.
4. Develop and refine internal export control policies and procedures for multiple sites across various countries, ensuring consistency and compliance.
5. Collaborate closely with TSMC customers, vendors, and internal teams to address and resolve export control-related challenges effectively.
6. Design and update comprehensive export compliance training materials, empowering employees with a clear understanding of relevant rules and regulations.
Job Qualifications:
1. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English, enabling clear and effective interaction across diverse stakeholders.
2. A license to practice law in Taiwan or the U.S. is highly preferred, showcasing legal expertise in the field.
3. A strong educational background in engineering is a must, reflecting technical proficiency.
4. Experience in the semiconductor industry is a valuable asset, highlighting industry-specific knowledge.
5. Prior experience in international trade or export control is highly desirable, demonstrating familiarity with global compliance standards.
