Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity
Executive Officer I

Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity is established under The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with a mission to predict and prevent diabetes and preserve well-being through people development, innovative research and person-centered care. The Institute has an international reputation with signature programmes, including postgraduate and professional courses, international conferences and bespoke training workshops. The Institute operates a nurse-led risk assessment and education centre to complement medical care in the community. The Centre provides the JADE-assisted risk assessment and education programmes for quality assurance and state of the art diabetes prediction and prevention services for early intervention to complement medical care. The Institute designs, coordinates and evaluates large-scale community-based diabetes prevention programs with particular focus on people of working age. The Institute is based at the Prince of Wales Hospital and works closely with other organisations, including but not limited to those under the CUHK and the CUHK Foundation, to deliver these inter-linked programmes.

The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing support to committee work and report writing (b) liaising with Faculties/Departments on academic programme matters (c) planning and organising events, symposiums, and press conferences (d) handling office budget and finance and (e) performing ad hoc duties as assigned by the Director.

Applicants should have (i) a good Bachelor's degree (ii) fulfilled the English language requirements set out on the website: https://www.hro.cuhk.edu.hk/en-gb/languageforeo (iii) at least 8 years post-qualification executive experience (iv) an effective command of English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua) (v) a good understanding of local university academic programmes and hands-on experience with university information systems (vi) proven executive abilities in large-scale project management (vii) a strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently and under pressure (viii) excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational, and analytical skills and (ix) a high level of computer literacy. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
