SFC has many strategic initiatives and programmes that include The Bridge Fashion Innovator

(TBFI), Programs and training that promote Sustainability, Capability Development, Flagship Events such as Be The Change Summit and Singapore Stories.

SFC also manages Design Orchard Retail Showcase (DORS) and The Cocoon Space (TCS):

DORS, the retail showcase located at level one of Design Orchard and situated in the centre of Orchard Road, provides a physical retail space for new and emerging designers, at the renowned shopping belt of Singapore. It has the largest collection of locally based designer brands in Singapore.

About the Opportunity

The Fashion Sustainability Programme (FSP), launched in November 2021, is Singapore's national platform for accelerating sustainability transformation across the fashion ecosystem. Led by Singapore Fashion Council (SFC), the programme drives industry capability building, circular economy innovation, sustainability talent development, consumer engagement, and cross-sector collaboration to position Singapore as a regional leader in sustainable fashion.

SFC is seeking a visionary, strategic, and highly collaborative Director, Sustainability to lead the next phase of this transformation. This leadership role will shape sustainability strategy, oversee flagship programmes, influence industry practices, cultivate strategic partnerships, and advance Singapore's sustainability agenda both regionally and globally.

The successful candidate will combine deep sustainability expertise with strong stakeholder leadership, systems thinking, programme execution excellence, and the ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity. This role requires an individual who can inspire change across the industry while delivering measurable environmental, social, and economic impact.

Role Purpose

  • The Director, Sustainability is responsible for developing and executing SFC's sustainability vision and strategy, leading a portfolio of industry transformation programmes, driving ecosystem partnerships, and positioning Singapore as a thought leader in sustainable fashion and circular economy innovation.
  • The role oversees large aspect of fund-raising for FSP, as well as drive programme strategy, policy engagement, industry capability building, resource management, and organisational sustainability outcomes while leading a high-performing team and fostering collaboration across government, industry, academia, and international stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute SFC's sustainability vision and multi-year strategy, driving Singapore's leadership in sustainable fashion and circular economy innovation.
  • Lead a portfolio of national sustainability programmes, ensuring strategic alignment, measurable industry impact and successful delivery.
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships across government agencies, brands, manufacturers, academia, investors, NGOs and international organisations.
  • Drive fundraising, sponsorships and grant acquisition to support programme growth and long-term sustainability.
  • Champion industry transformation by developing sustainability frameworks, toolkits, thought leadership, best practices and capability-building initiatives.
  • Advise stakeholders on sustainability strategy, circular economy, ESG, decarbonisation, responsible sourcing and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Represent SFC as a recognised sustainability leader at industry forums, conferences, media engagements and regional/global platforms.
  • Establish data-driven performance metrics and impact measurement frameworks to demonstrate programme outcomes and guide continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coach and inspire a high-performing team while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability.
  • Oversee programme governance, budgeting, resource planning and risk management to ensure operational excellence and organisational impact.

  • Programme & Commercial Leadership – Strong track record in leading complex programmes, fundraising, governance and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making – Uses insights and impact measurement to shape strategy, prioritise initiatives and demonstrate value.
  • People Leadership – Builds high-performing teams through coaching, empowerment and a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Exceptional Communication – Confident communicator and thought leader with excellent presentation, facilitation and executive influencing skills

What are we looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, Business, Public Policy, Engineering, Fashion, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • Postgraduate qualification or professional accreditation in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, circular economy, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Minimum 12 years of professional experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder sustainability programmes or transformation initiatives.
  • Experience in fashion, textiles, sustainability, consulting, public policy, industry development, or ecosystem-building roles is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in stakeholder engagement, strategic partnerships, programme management, and team leadership.
