About the Role
Provide the leadership, vision, and direction for the HR & Risk Technology Solutions team within the Group Applications function, ensuring they are operated efficiently and effectively and conforming to best practice governance processes and with the appropriate team capabilities in place to support the business needs
Develop technology strategy, roadmap and implementation planning for Group HR & Risk technology - Group HR provides strategy and governance for 27,000 employees including many mangers across 18 markets. While Risk ensures AIA is a viable and sustainable working entity by practicing prudent risk and compliance policies and guidelines.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Direction
- Define the technology vision and architecture for HR and Risk functions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, long-term scalability, and future-readiness of solutions.
- Lead strategic planning and portfolio management for HR and Risk Technology solutions
- Partner with the business to gain deep understanding of its strategy, processes and requirements. Make recommendation and select the most optimal solution, and communicate the architecture to the business
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and adopt a forward-looking approach to develop future technology roadmap and implementation planning (short to mid-term for 3-5 years)
- Responsible for enhancing user experience by leveraging AI-driven automation to streamline processes and modernize technology across HR and Risk Functions
- Engage with stakeholders across Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Lead the development of business cases and oversee the initiation and onboarding of strategic projects, ensuring alignment with functional priorities, resource planning and successful integration into the technology portfolio
Governance
- Own and govern HR systems (eg. Core HR, Talent, Payroll and Learing and Development) and Risk Platforms (eg. compliance, audit, incident tracking)
- Drive application lifecycle management including roadmap development, vendor engagement.
- Monitor performance metrics and use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement in service delivery, system efficiency, stakeholder satisfaction, and business value realization.
Financial Management
- Fiscally responsible actual-to-budget expenditures, adjusting expenditure patterns / trends as needed to meet with budgeted amounts. Prepare, revise, finalise and submit the annual budget forecast to the Director of Applications and Finance departments on a timely basis.
- Responsibility to agree and monitor operational financial and headcount budgets for the HR & Risk Technology Solution team.
- Total Cost of Ownership Optimization to ensure sustainable and efficient technology operations
Vendor Management
- Manage relationship with Product and delivery vendors to manage AIA needs and interests
Minimum Job Requirement
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields
- 12+ years of experience in IT roles with minimum 7 years in leadership position
- Proven experience managing large-scale application portfolios across multiple geographies or business units
- Strong ability to translate business needs to technical solutions
- Hands-on experience with systems such as Core HR, Talent Management, Payroll, Learning platform, Risk and Compliance systesm
- Familiar with data privacy, legal risk management, framework and regulatory compliance.
- Solid understanding of HR and Risk processes (eg. Workforce Planning & budgeting, Compliance reporting)
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional projects, including budgeting, forecasting and benefits realization
- Strong background in managing external vendors and internal stakeholders across HR, Risk and IT.
