Director of Facilities

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic Facilities Director to lead the planning, construction, and scaling of facilities operations for semiconductor fabrication. This role is critical to establishing a reliable, compliant, and high-performing facilities infrastructure that supports fab ramp-up and long-term manufacturing excellence.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in semiconductor fab facilities and a demonstrated ability to maintain strong execution oversight and ensure operational readiness throughout greenfield construction and ramp within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Operations Leadership

• Provide overall leadership and accountability for fab facilities operations, including cleanroom systems, HVAC, electrical power, UPW, wastewater treatment, chemicals, exhaust and etc.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of all critical utilities to support continuous 24/7 manufacturing operations.
• Establish, govern, and continuously improve SOPs for preventive maintenance, system uptime, incident response, and emergency recovery.

Cross-Functional & Operational Alignment

• Partner closely with fab operations, process engineering, equipment, and EHS teams to align facilities capabilities with production ramp plans and technology roadmaps.
• Promote strong cross-functional collaboration and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Construction & Capital Projects

• Provide executive oversight for all facilities construction activities, including base build, cleanroom construction, and infrastructure readiness for tool installation.
• Coordinate with EPCs, contractors, architects, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe and effective project execution.
• Track project performance, manage risks, and ensure delivery on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards.

Regulatory Compliance & EHSS

• Ensure full compliance with building codes and regulatory requirements and applicable semiconductor industry standards.
• Ensure compliance with EHSS regulations, including environmental protection, cleanroom standards, and hazardous materials handling.
• Lead audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews; ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
• Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all facilities operations.

Budget & Vendor Management

• Develop, manage, and control facilities OPEX and CAPEX budgets, covering greenfield construction and steady-state operations.
• Drive cost-optimization initiatives while maintaining safety, compliance, and system reliability.
• Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance management of outsourced facilities services and utility providers.

Organization & Talent Leadership

• Establish and lead a high-performing facilities organization capable of supporting a complex, high-tech manufacturing environment.
• Define organizational structure, performance expectations, development plans, and succession strategies.
• Build a strong leadership bench and foster technical excellence across the facilities team.

Business Continuity & Risk Management

• Ensure robust business continuity, emergency response, and disaster recovery plans are established, tested, and regularly reviewed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Facilities Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in facilities operations or engineering, preferably within semiconductor manufacturing or advanced manufacturing.
• Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role within a fab or similar high-reliability environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale construction programs and CAPEX projects.
• Greenfield fab experience is strongly preferred.
