This role provides key investment monitoring and analytical support to the Chief Risk Officer and ensure effective oversight over the company's investment portfolio. The role involves working with the first line Investments team (and external fund managers) and conduct independent risk reviews on prospective or current investments, providing constructive risk-based challenges with sound analysis and recommendations from a risk management perspective.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead independent second line risk reviews and provide analytical insight and challenge on investment initiatives (e.g. investment mandates, due diligence), new investment asset classes or instruments, asset-related aspects of ALM initiatives, risk transfers and all investment-related risk-taking activities.
- Ongoing second-line risk oversight, identify, monitor and evaluate investment performance and potential risks within the Company's investment portfolio, including private equity, private credit and derivatives, taking a principles-based approach to build/enhance risk management frameworks for alternative assets where appropriate.
- Drive the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies for investments and asset-liability management, and ensure compliance with internal policies, standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Develop and enhance systems, methodologies or tools for effective investment risk management using analytics or technology (incl. AI). Foster a risk-aware culture and ensure alignment with broad industry developments and standards in the area of investment risk management.
- In collaboration with Financial Risk team, provide second-line risk oversight over the market risk, credit risk, counterparty risk, liquidity risk, asset-liability management risk.
- Ensure robust risk reporting to senior management and regulator. Represent the Risk team and liaise with local, Group and external stakeholders on investment risk matters across company-wide forums and projects, contributing risk insights and challenges, including analytics, deep dives, assurance reviews, and addressing enquiries from Group Office and the regulators.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in an investment or financial risk management role.
- Experience in investments or risk management of private equity, private credit and/or derivative assets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation and facilitation capabilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with and influence senior executives.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving, critical thinking and project management skills.
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to manage a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Detail-minded, highly proactive, self-motivated with a drive to deliver.
- Quantitative financial background, such as CFA, FRM or equivalent qualifications.
