Job Description
Our client, an international bank, is seeking a Director to lead its assurance work over financial crime technology, operations and data. The role holder will assess how effectively the bank's systems and processes detect and manage financial crime risk, and will report conclusions to senior management, governance committees and regulators.
The role sits within the bank's audit function but is aimed at financial crime technology and operations specialists. Senior professionals with experience running, building or enhancing transaction monitoring, screening or surveillance capabilities, or leading the operations behind them, are encouraged to apply. Prior audit experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify the areas of highest financial crime technology and data risk and direct review activity accordingly.
- Assess the end-to-end performance of transaction monitoring, sanctions and name screening, surveillance and case management, from data inputs and detection logic through to alert handling and investigations.
- Review the quality, lineage and governance of the data supporting these systems.
- Communicate complex technical and operational findings clearly to senior management, governance committees and regulators.
- Build and lead a team, deploying the technical and risk expertise each review requires.
Requirements
- Extensive senior experience in financial crime technology, financial crime operations or a related area within a large bank or financial institution.
- Hands-on knowledge of transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems and the alert-to-investigation process.
- Working knowledge of financial crime regulation across major markets.
- Experience working with risk governance and control frameworks, whether in designing, operating or testing them.
- Experience leading sizeable teams and technology initiatives.
- A degree in a relevant discipline such as computer science, engineering, finance or accounting.
- Data management experience, and relevant financial crime or data certifications, are an advantage.
