Key Responsibilities

Qnity is accepting applications for a Data Scientist to join our growing R&D organization. This role focuses primarily on data science and machine learning, supporting scientific and engineering use cases across the company.

A Strong Candidate Will Be Responsible For

  • Develop, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models for scientific and engineering applications
  • Perform data cleaning, exploratory analysis, statistical modeling, regression analysis, and data visualization
  • Apply cheminformatics techniques using tools such as RDKit for molecular representation, featurization, and structure–property analysis
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, data engineering, and software teams to integrate ML solutions into production workflows
  • Communicate methods, results, and recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders
  • Manage tasks effectively, break down complex problems into logical steps, and maintain well-documented, reproducible workflows

Qualifications

  • MS experience in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Strong expertise in machine learning and deep learning (e.g., regression, clustering, classification, neural networks)
  • Strong Python programming skills and experience building end‑to‑end ML workflows
  • Experience applying data science to scientific or engineering problems
  • Hands‑on experience with chemical information or cheminformatics tools (e.g., RDKit) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with SQL, MongoDB, and data visualization or prototyping tools
  • Azure cloud experience preferred
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
